Lineapelle Fair: a new venue in Italy, a new allegiance for Japan

Italy’s leading leather fair now joining forces with ICCJ to strengthen its presence in the Japanese market

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan was designated by Promos, a special agency of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, to organise two promotional events for Lineapelle in Osaka (Hotel Nikko) and Tokyo (ICCJ Event Space), on July 8th and 9th respectively.

Lineapelle, Italy’s most important trade fair related to leather and leather goods, has recently moved its exhibition venue back to Milan after decades of operating in Bologna. The move has not only resulted in a change in the time and venue of the exhibition (now brought forward to September), but has also triggered a different way of promoting. Instrumental in this has been the collaboration with Promos.

Each of the two morning events hosted more than 80 people professionals in the leather sector, retailers and specialized journalists. Both featured a seminar by Orietta Pellizzari – a well-rounded fashion expert and longtime collaborator of Lineapelle – on the trends in leather goods for the 2015 Autumn-Winter collection, as well as an exhibition of the newest works by Italian tanners, put together by Ms. Pellizzari herself.

Professionals have consistently expressed positive feedback on the events, which will be repeated next winter with a focus on the 2016 Spring-Summer collection.

As a side program, ICCJ also accompanied the delegation of Lineapelle to visit some of the most relevant fashion schools in Osaka and Tokyo, in order to acquire first-hand knowledge of vocational fashion education in Japan and to explore possibilities of collaboration. The response of the schools has been extremely positive, and it is likely that further visits will be made in the future.
