
Any Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced in 2019 is eligible, granted a production batch of at least 500 Kg is guaranteed and the application form and the product samples are correctly submitted within the deadline, set on March 31 th, 2020.
A renewed point-based decimal system between 8,00 (minimum) and 10,00 (maximum) will ensure a fairer award attribution based on the overall quality of the oils. The prizes will be awarded as follow:
between 8,00 and 8,99: Silver Prize
between 9,00 a 9,49: Gold Prize
between 9,50 a 10,00: Best in Class
Oils will be competing in the following categories: Organic, Blend, Monocultivar, P.D.O. and P.G.I. Certificates of excellence for oils with distinctive qualities (high polyphenols content), other special mentions and “Best of Country” for the oil with the highest score from each country will be also awarded.
The Jury is composed by an international panel of six certified sensorial analysis judges, supervised by the panel leaders Pietro Paolo Arca (Italy) and Konstantinos Liris (Greece): Pablo Voitzuk (USA), Michiyo Yamada (Japan), Angeles Calvo Fandos (Spain) and Antonio Giuseppe Lauro (Italy).
The announcement of the winners and the award ceremony shall take place on April 10, 2020, in Tokyo in front of media, Institutional representatives, experts, and many others.
The Winners list will be published on JOOP official web page (https://jooprize.com/) and Facebook (@joop.japanoliveoilprize) on April 13, 2020, at 2 pm (Japan time).
