Inbound tourism in the Chubu region faces a specific challenge: international visitors tend to pass through only briefly on their way to Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto, which rarely leads to overnight or extended stays. One of the main reasons is that the region is still not sufficiently well known abroad. This seminar will introduce and discuss the following:
- Gifu Prefecture success story — Initiatives to promote Gifu Prefecture in Italy, carried out in partnership with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan
- Ise-Shima future vision — Strategies aimed at high-net-worth international travelers going forward
- Challenges and solutions for inbound tourism in the Chubu region — New strategies to transform the region from a “stopover” into a “destination”
