The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ICCJ), together with Lingua Viva Italian Language School — itself an ICCJ member — is pleased to offer an Italian course based on the teaching method used at the school. This beginner-level course strikes a balance between grammar and conversation, helping you build expressions you can put to use in everyday situations and while travelling. This seminar explores the new trends shaping the Japanese fashion market, the challenges facing fashion brands, and how sustainability is being integrated into Japan's fashion industry. Drawing on Japanese case studies such as Uniqlo's use of technology, Kokuyo's Yaruki Pen, and the solo-activity lifestyle trend, the session will highlight key considerations for Italian companies and brands looking to expand across Asia.

Teaches fashion business at Doshisha University Business School, Sophia University, and Osaka University. Former COO & Vice President of Giorgio Armani Japan, CFO of Safilo Japan, and General Manager of EBC. Served two terms as President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan.
Takaaki Komatani — President & CEO of Itochu Fashion System Co., Ltd. After handling overseas brands including Armani and Dean & DeLuca at Itochu Corporation, he led investment strategies including a capital alliance with ZOZO. In his current role since 2018, he has spearheaded new business ventures and co-creation projects centred on sustainability, including the cross-industry "Re-Creation" certification scheme.
Koyu Asanuma — Senior Researcher, Future Research Institute, Itochu Fashion System Co., Ltd. After working for a major housing manufacturer, she moved to the United States where she gained experience as an interior buyer. Upon returning to Japan, she handled merchandising at LOEWE (LVMH Group), then served as Japan head of trend forecasting firm WGSN before joining her current organisation in 2019. She is also an active contributor to industry publications including Senken Shimbun and participates in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Textile Industry Subcommittee.
