Conceria 800 and his traditional Tuscan tanning technique

On the 20th of March 2018, at the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan will take place the presentation of Conceria 800’s unique vegetable tanning technique and of the Japan-limited spring-summer collection presented during Lineapelle in Milan (20th-22nd of February 2018).

Conceria 800, born in the late 70’s, is a leather manufacturer located in Santa Croce sull’Arno,  in the area between Pisa and Florence. Even today Conceria 800 tans their leathers using the old system of “CONCIA IN FOSSA” (pit tanning), a process used since ancient times that Conceria 800 tries to modernize and adjust to the needs of today’s fashion. Conceria 800’s goods are also imported to Japan.

The event will feature an explanation of the processing techniques and the original vegetable tanning, as well as a presentation of the spring-summer collection that was also introduced this year during Lineapelle trade fair in Milan.

The vegetable tanning

This traditional technique, that uses natural tannin extracted from plants, is passed on from generation to generation by Tuscan artisans. This technique does not use any synthetic substance, which is good for the environment and makes the products safe to wear even for those who have a sensitive skin. Using this technique makes the products shiny and soft to the touch, reflecting the quality of the soil and the water of this land, resulting in a color tone impossible to obtain in Japan.

The event is open to leather product importer, leather products manufacturer and journalists specialized in leather.
